Melancholy, haunting, all twangy melodic guitar and breathless vocals. Subtle, but deadly catchy…
I love this iconic, sleepy, LA kind of music. You can just hear it playing live in a club, a room stuffed full of a swaying, sweaty audience. Darkly dressed and winding down. The story is one of loss and love, a kind of anti love song really, always relevant, timeless and achingly truthful. Starveya is a truly excellent band. They have the kind of presence that compels you to listen, a slow, steady demand, nothing showy or over done.
It’s a perfect single for our covid days of late summer. They have an album due out next year and I am really looking forward to hearing more from them and maybe even, heaven forbid, actually seeing them perform live…we can all hope I guess. In the mean time we have this gorgeous and sweetly sad single to propel us through these disparate days. All it needs now is a moody video, with an eighties vibe, the dark side of the eighties, not the shiny side of course, and maybe some brooding vampires…love it!!!
