Rob Alexander has pulled together some pretty amazing musicians to help him create this album. Musicians from Elton John’s band as well as current and former members of Frankie Valli’s touring band.
The songs are a lovely mixture of soulful ballads and foot-stomping pop/rock anthems. Alexander’s voice bears more than a passing resemblance to Sir Elton, but he has his own sultry rasp, and a deeper vibrant timber.
It’s a big album with gorgeously rich sound and utterly perfect production. It’s a really tremendous band and with songs like these, all attention given to the detail of the arrangements makes all the difference, I think.
This album is theatrical, thoughtful and playful, with a sweetly sentimental nostalgic feel. You’ll hear Sir Elton, but there’s also a lot of Billy Joel, Neil Diamond and even a bit of Leonard Cohen’s influence. Expert musicians, gorgeous arrangements, some great songwriting and Rob Alexander’s strong, soulful, passionate voice telling each and every story create an album well worthy of attention! Loved it!!
