Beautiful, jazz-inspired vocals, gorgeous instrumentation and production, stylish breathtaking songs full of longing and yearning and magical arrangements.
Lucinda Belle is a master at this. The songs on this album are an ever so slight modern twist on a classic songbook, all originals, all instantly timeless. And her voice…just glorious. Silky smooth, slightly husky, she has a huge range and is breathlessly effortless in her delivery. You can feel the emotions, you can hear her heart breaking with every word she sings.
She’s a classically trained harpist and her music is centered around her phenomenal playing. This adds such an unusual dimension to her fabulous songs, in a deeply magical way. She toured the world with some amazing artists, Annie Lennox, Nathalie Cole, The Pet Shop Boys, before launching her solo career. She has had such a varied and eclectic career so far with appearances with The Spice Girls, being cast as the sultry singer, Dixie Darling in the world-renowned immersive theatre experience “The Drowned Man” by Punch Drunk in London and working with St Mary’s University in a series of experimental performances on music and mood.
She recently began looping on the harp, something never done before, allowing her to create the effect of an orchestra live, which she debuted on stage during her keynote talk at TEDxManchester in February, 2018. Lucinda Belle is a rule breaker, a pioneer of the unapologetic torch song for a new age, a new world. She’s a treasure in fact. A ‘unique.’ A testament to artistry and the proof that whatever you have, whatever you evolve into artistically you must trust it, you must believe in it. You must be it. Because if you do then so will your audience. This is a gorgeous album, a soundtrack to heart ache and hopefulness and love.
Miss this at your peril…love, love, bloody loved it!!!!!
