“
Wrap Your Heart Around It” Is Perfectly Titled – It Will Move You!”
Talk about a moving theatrical experience! “Wrap Your Heart Around It” is an amazing personal journey that is written, performed and composed by its spectacular one-woman talent, Lynn Marie Rink.
Yes, she is a five-time Grammy nominee. Yes, she is considered “The Queen of Polka” in the music industry. Yes, she had toured the world with her favorite instrument, the accordion, but this theatrical production is just a warm, fuzzy and heartfelt story of her life in song, music and real-life experiences. You’ll walk out feeling like you’ve just been hugged by a real life Teddy-Bear!
"Wrap Your Heart Around It" is definitely for the whole family and what makes it more fun is that Lynn Marie requires audience participation by either clapping along, singing along or, if you're one of the lucky ones, you might even get some chocolate cake! (She tells you her personal desires and passions for desserts and my chocolate cake comment will make perfect sense!)
This is a musical interpretation of Lynn Marie’s life-story journey that focuses on all the issues she has had to overcome both with family, friends, her psychiatrist, religion and life itself. However, she gives a special focus on her son who was born with Down ’s Syndrome. It’s heartfelt and extremely inspiring to hear her story in her own words (and music too).
Marvelously directed by Michael Kerns and produced by Paul Miller, it has one of the most creatively colorful and elegantly ‘flowing’ sets I’ve seen in a long while designed by Jeff McLaughlin with the amazingly artistic lighting design by Luke Moyer. “Wrap Your Heart Around It” is just one of the most wonderful dramatized personal journeys in a play/performance format and, as far as one-woman shows go, simply the best I have ever seen.
Her band is amazingly witty and supportive and makes the theatre rock, bop and twang in style! Fantastic musical direction and guitar player Paul Carrol Binkley leads the amazing talents of Paul Cartwright on the fiddle, Joey Ayoub on the bass and Chris Steele on percussion. They certainly sound like a well-oiled machine.
The five of them all tell the amazing personal story of Lynn Marie in such away the makes you as the audience feel warm, comfortable and completely “at home” with her. It was amazing to watch the audience emote with laughter and tears as she unweaves her story regarding the birth of her son and her life with him!
This is definitely something you should not miss and a show you should tell your friends about. If you are like me you’ll love songs like the classic “Beer Barrel Polka," Lynn Marie’s Polka-ized version of The Proclaimers’ 500 Miles, as well the my personal favorite “That’s What I Like About The North.” That one had me laughing out loud! (I’m from the North!) But along with the wonderful images of her son (and family) it will be “Wrap Your Heart Around It” that will pull at your heartstrings – really well too! She’s talented, she’s funny, she’s smart, she’s beautiful inside and out and she has a wonderful story to tell you. Check her out at http://FalconTheatre.com or her site http://LynnMarie.net. I also recommend getting her CD of the show on your way out! I can’t stop listening to it!
