Iri
Yes! This is the word we screamed when we first came across Iri and her song “Rhythm” from her debut album “Groove It.”

So we’re dance fanatics and follow some awesome dancers, both right here in the NoHo Arts District and all over the world. We were in an Instagram dance spiral when we watched this video and loved the song and choreo. We had to find out more. It was hard because Iri's label doesn't give us access to her videos and she was hard to find on Spotify. But we didn't give up.

Thanks, Black Fal Films for posting the video introducing us to Iri and the sweet choreo of Marimo Kanno.

When a song makes you get out of your seat and dance, you know it’s a jam.

“Rhythm” starts out like a buddah lounge melody, something you would hear walking the streets of Miami before the place gets poppin'. Then the loungy music stops and she sings a capella. The simple, sexy drums drop and her voice flows over the rhythm like a wave of water. They go together like peanut butter and jelly.

We were listening to her (loud) and someone asked: "What’s she saying?" We don’t know and, frankly, we don’t care. It’s tough to make out the language at first because you’re engrossed in the rhythm. But she’s singing in Japanese because you hear “watashi wa” in the chorus. Until then you assume she’s singing in English because she sprinkles in English words throughout. You can play the music version of "Where’s Waldo?" and see if you can catch the English words. Iri’s song “Rhythm” is aptly named because the rhythm makes the song soothing to the ear and makes you move.

We started with her first release and have worked our way up to her latest release, "Juice," which is just as awesome. Check out "Fruits" for another groove.

So get out of your seat and sway, stomp and step to Iri.

Here’s how to keep your eye on her and hopefully we'll get to see her in Los Angeles sometime soon.
