Alice Asmar is one of America's most distinguished artists and was one of four in the country to win a Woolley Fellowship for study in Paris, France in 1958-1959 at L’Ecole des Beaux-Arts. Her artwork is in thousands of collections around the world, including the Smithsonian. The work Alice will be exhibiting ranges from 1946 to 2013

How long have you been painting?
Alice: Since I was 2 years old. Child Prodigy - had major publicity at age of 10 - front page of Oregonian
What types of mediums do you like to work in?
Alice: I love all paints & oil...casein, transparent water color, opaque watercolors, pastels (oil & dry), inked drawing, conte drawings, colored pencils and sculpture.
What has been some of your greatest achievements?
Alice: Visual Opera: Pelleas & Melisanto - 6 panel polytick, 5 panel polytick of the crashing ocean also ink mural 27 feet long of 7 women of the world. 3 paintings of California - for Security Pacific International Bank in New York

What do you like best about being an artist?
Alice: Creative work is exhilarating, inspiring and it is "my calling."
What advice would you give an emerging artist?
Alice: Be honest. Be persistent. Learn all you can about life and art techniques. Work at your art every day. Learn from everybody.
Tell us about the upcoming Art Show at NoHo Senior Artist Colony.
Alice: Will be showing my ink drawings, some seascapes, Indian art & my growth as an artist in several medias.
Also, some animals- the four pieces that have been chosen for my art show is in Paris France.
Also, I will be showing 4 lithographs that are in the Smithsonian .
