Agatha Christie’s WITNESS FOR THE PROSECUTION is the perfect mystery for the beginning the 2017, and the perfect play for you to see now. The amazing Director, Jules Aaron brings us deep into Agatha Christie’s courtroom drama and we are enthralled.
You see, there has been a murder of the wealthy and dazzling London socialite, Emily French. A younger man and “friend” of Emily’s, Leonard Vole, appears to be the prime suspect. But Leonard is deeply in love with his wife, Romaine, and is emphatic that he did not fill her. Or so he says. But Romaine’s loyal housekeeper, Janet MacKenzie is adamant that Leonard killed her boss.
Leonard is arrested and hires renowned Attorney, Sir Wilfrid Robarts, and his associate, Mrs Mayhew to represent him in his trial. And the trial is gripping, and if you don’t know this play, you will be in for a shocker. Patrick Skelton as Leonard Vole, Larry Eisenberg as Sir Wilfrid Robarts, Michele Schultz as Mrs Mayhew, Sherry Michaels as Janet Mackenzie, Lloyd Pedersen as Mr. Justice Wainwright, Chris Winfield as prosecutor Mr. Myers, and the renowned actress Salome Jens is spectacular as Romaine. All are extraordinary. Rounding out the excellent cast are Todd Andrew Ball as both the butler, Carter and Dr. Wyatt, Roslyn Cohn as both Greta and Ms. Clegg, Bruce Nehlsen as Inspector Hearne, Mikel Parraga-Wills as Court Clerk, Nathalie Cadenas as The Girl, and Rishi Das and Nikola Georgiev as Officers of the Court. Great casting and excellent performances.
It is a fantastic production, with an amazing rotating set by Chris Winfield, gorgeous costumes by Angela M. Eads and Wigs/Makeup/Hair by Judi Lewin, and Dialect Coach, Linda Brennan. Lights and sound. Rave, rave, rave!!!
The end of this play will knock you off your seat. But this is a play you will remember, and one you don’t want to end. It is that wonderful. Creator of the modern mystery, Agatha Christie always leaves you guessing and wanting more.
